Just a thought....

I balanced our checkbook with the statement on the computer, yesterday, and found a couple of errors.  At one point we had calculated wrongly, adding in our head instead of using a calculator, and thought we were short of funds.  We had quickly transferred money from savings to cover the bills, but we actually had had money in our account all along.  Our mistake caused us to believe that we were short when really we had an excess!

I believe this same mistake can be made spiritually, also.  We miscalculate.  We add it up in our mind, figuring it out with our logic instead of getting the exact facts from the Word.  We think we are running short of what is needed - be it grace, love, strength, hope, etc.  We try to pull in extra from our own resources, but later find when we calculate it against the Word of God that our balance was much higher than we realized.  In Christ, we had an excess of grace, an excess of love and strength - we had hope all along but didn't recognize it.

How do we avoid these mistakes that wear us out physically and emotionally?  Always use the Word of God as our calculator.  Don't try to figure it out in your head.  It never adds up right when we do.  Never.  His ways are always beyond ours.  His thoughts are always above ours.  His bank account - and thus, our bank account - always has more in it, physically and spiritually, than we would guess or calculate through our own means.  We have all the riches of glory in Christ Jesus! (Eph. 3:8, AMP)

We are moving deeper and deeper into a time and place where we cannot rely on our own thoughts and ways, even for a moment.  We have to see from His perspective - from His word - because in the end, it is His word and plan which always stands, no matter how it looks. (Psalm 33:11)
