Honey
Honey is one of the most incredible foods on the earth. The properties in
its contents are numerous. All through the scriptures honey was used as an offering because it was considered one of
the choicest products that could be given.
Genesis 43:11 "And their father Israel said to them, If it must be so,
now do this; take of the choicest products in the land in your sacks and carry down a present to the man, a little balm (balsam)
and a little honey, aromatic spices and gum (of rock rose) or ladanum, pistachio nuts, and almonds."
In Exodus the Lord provided the Jewish people with manna made with honey.
Exodus 16:31 "The house of Israel called the bread manna; it was like coriander seed, white, and it tasted like
wafers made with honey".
Lev. 2:11 "No cereal offering that you bring the Lord shall be made with
leaven, for you shall burn no leaven or honey in any offering made by fire to the Lord."
In Judges 14, honey was used in a riddle.
I Kings 14:3 "Take ten loaves, some cakes, and a bottle of honey, and go
to him. He will tell you what shall happen to the child."
Psalm 19:9-10 "The reverent fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the
ordinances of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, even than much fine
gold; they are sweeter, also, than honey and drippings from the honeycomb."
Psalm 81:16 "(God) would feed (Israel now) also with the finest of the wheat;
and with honey out of the rock would I satisfy you."
Psalm 119:103 "How sweet are Your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my
mouth."
Prov. 24:13 "My son, eat honey, because it is good, and the drippings of the
honeycomb are sweet to your taste."
Is. 7:15 "Butter and curds and wild honey shall he eat when he knows enough
to refuse the evil and choose the good."
Matt. 3:4 "This same John's garments were made of camel's hair and he wore a
leather girdle about his waist, and his food was locusts and wild honey."
Rev. 10:10 "So I took the little book from the angel's hand and ate and swallowed
it; it was as sweet as honey in my mouth, but once I had swallowed it, my stomach was embittered."
When you read these scriptures, think about how honey was described in different
situations.
It took centuries for the world of science to discover how the Pharoahs and important
people of Egypt were so well preserved. Honey was one of the ingredients they used for embalming.
Bees have always fascinated me - that something so small could produce something
so good. Honey was valuable in the scripture as well as today. Bees are also very valuable.
Let's take a look at what bees do. Besides honey, they provide us with three
other really healthy products. These items are part of the five miracle foods:
****************
1. Bee Pollen - To collect bee pollen, the bee keeper uses
pollen traps which consist of a diaphram - a screen with a mesh barely large enough to permit the bees to return to the
hive. As the pollen is collected by the bee, it is stored in little buckets which God equipped them with on their
hind legs. When the bee returns and tries to enter the hive, their hinds legs are caught as they struggle to enter the
screened area. Through the struggle, the pollen falls from their legs into another screen through which the bee is not
able to pass. The pollen is then passed into a drawer to be retrieved by the bee keeper. Interesting, isn't it?
2. Bee Propolis - Propolis is used by the bees to caulk up
the inside of the hive and to attach the honeycomb to the hive. The propolis is collected from the resinous substances
exuded by the buds of trees such as Horse Chestnut and other trees. Propolis is a natural antibiotic. The bees
not only use propolis for construction material, but they use it to keep the hive pure. As they enter the hive, they
pass through the propolis (which is constructed behind the entrance of the hive) disinfecting them as they enter.
Bee propolis is also a source of non-allergice bioflavonoids. Bee propolis can be used for gums, inner mouth, and throat
problems, and it also strengthens the thymus gland.
3. Royal Jelly - Royal Jelly is actually bee's milk, which
is made by the nurser bees chewing up bee pollen (without swallowing it) and mixing it with a chemical which they secrete
in the glands on the top of their heads.
Royal Jelly is fed only to the Queen Bee, which originally was an ordinary female
bee, but because of her diet, she became twice the size of her subjects and grew without pollen baskets, honey stomach, or
wax glands. Instead, she grows a large abdomen - which projects far out behind her - and acquires a terrific stinger.
The Queen Bee lives forty times longer than the ordinary bee and is capable of laying
as many as two thousand eggs a day, weighing two and one-half times more than she. Royal Jelly is beneficial to us in
that it will arrest a citrus allergy, and strengthen the adrenal glands.
4. Eggs - Chicken eggs are very much misunderstood.
Eggs are a source of complete protein and contain 14% more lecithin than cholestrol. The cholin and lecithin contained
in the egg helps to clean up cholestrol in the arteries. Eggs also contain sulfur, which is part of the immune system.
The egg is the one food that rebuilds cells.
Eggs should not be boiled too long, for excess boiling will kill the protein in
the egg, leaving a gray or green ring around the yolk of dead protein. Eggs which are organically fertilized should
be eaten because they contain more protein. Eating raw eggs will deplete the body of biotin, however. So if you
like raw eggs, take extra biotin, which is Vitamin H or Co Enzyme R. Biotin is also found in brewers yeast, beef liver,
milk, kidney, and unpolished rice.
Eggs should not be washed before storing, as this will remove a protective coating,
making them susceptable to contamination. Note: In centuries of old, artists used egg to preserve their paintings.
I spilled egg on my car seat and could never really get it off. It sticks!
5. Spirulina - Spirulina is a blue-green algae and is truly
a miracle food, considered world-wide as an immediate food resource. Spirulina is more digestable than most algae because
it is without celloluse. It contains 65-70% of protein and provides all eight essential proteins. It also contains
chlorophyll, a green molecule common to plants.
All of these miracle food contain everytnig that we need, as far as vitamins, minerals,
proteins, amino acids, etc. They are complete foods.
