"He (Jesus) is the sole expression of the glory of God [the Light-being, the
out-raying or radiance of the divine], and He is the perfect imprint and very image of [God's] nature, upholding and maintaining and guiding and propelling the universe by His mighty word of power..."
Hebrews 1:3a
I remember the first time that verse took my breath away: that the universe is upheld, maintained,
guided, and propelled by the word of Jesus! Not by His hand or His strength as we would think
of it, but by the power of His spoken word for it to simply be so. What a thought beyond thoughts!
Recently the Spirit took me back to that important truth. As I was pondering a personal promise from my
Father which had not seen fulfillment, a shadow of doubt crossed my mind. In response, the Spirit
asked me, "Are the stars falling from the sky?" I was taken aback as He asked again, "Are the planets falling from the
heavens?"
"No."
He continued. "If even the tiniest detail of My word is not fulfilled, then the stars and planets
- which are held in their places by My word - would immediately fall from the sky. If any of My word is not
true, if any of it is not fulfilled, then none of it is true."
There is no option but that God's word is fulfilled; the very nature and character of our Lord insists upon
it. Isaiah 55:11 is not just a light encouragement. Every word of God's will most certainly
accomplish and produce that for which He intended it; God's utterance comes into existence on the breath of His power and
shall prosper in the thing for which He sent it.
I wonder if it is just a coincidence that God chose the stars to relate to Abraham the picture of
His promise of a nation through him. I wonder if every time Abraham looked up at the sky, he was not encouraged that
as long as those distant lights still shone down upon him, as long as they still hung in the heavens, the promise of His God
stood firm.
I Samuel 3:18-19 says, "Samuel grew; the Lord was with him and let none of his words fall to the ground.
And all Israel from Dan to Beersheba knew that Samuel was established to be a prophet of the Lord."
God found in Samuel a pure vessel through which to speak His untainted word. Samuel's words did not
fall to the ground because they were God's words. As I thought of these verses, I had a picture in my spirit of a word
coming from the mouth of God, almost as a living cloud, roaming the earth, searching for place to be fulfilled. It never
settled or touched the earth, but hovered and searched until it came to pass in the perfection which the Creator had intended.
It has been on my heart, and I have written a lot recently, about the importance of perseverance to complete
the destiny which our Father longs for us to fulfill. But what happens when prophetic words are spoken over individuals
and they choose to walk away from that destiny? Could it be that one reason children are a blessing
from God is that they receive the inheritance of opportunity to be a vessel to fulfill God's words which have been dismissed
by former generations?
Whether you are believing God for a promise in His written Word, standing in faith for a personal word whispered
by His Spirit to yours, or simply making yourself available to a hovering, unfulfilled prophecy, know without wavering that
"the grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever." (Is. 40:8)
"Let all the earth fear the Lord [revere and worship Him]; let all the inhabitants of the world stand
in awe of Him. For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast.
"The Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nought; He makes the thoughts and plans of the peoples
of no effect. The counsel of the Lord stands forever; the thoughts of His heart through all generations.
"Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people He has chosen
as His heritage." (Ps. 33:8-12)
