Psalm 73:25-26 (AMP)
"Whom have I in heaven but You?  And I have no delight or desire on earth besides You.  My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the Rock and firm Strength of my heart and my Portion forever."

Well, it's that time of year again - the beginning.  A time when many are making lists of resolutions and 'starting over' again, usually on things that didn't quite get finished from last year's list.

It really is pretty neat to have a time and space when we can take inventory and regroup.  I think that sometimes we need to see where we are along the timeline; it can be both encouraging and challenging.

But there is so much more to it than just deciding on which habits we'd like to break or form.  It's an opportunity to ask, seek, and knock in the High Places - a chance to be reminded of what the Spirit has already said, and to hear instruction, direction, and encouragement for the future.

First, let's look at where we've been.  Today the Spirit reminded me of some foundational, life-giving truths that I already know; it's amazing how we can loose sight of them in the passion of wanting and seeking more of Him.

Philippians 3:16 encourages us to "hold true to what we have already attained and walk and order our lives by that."  Take time to savor again those pieces of understanding that the Spirit gave you this past year.  Pull out the notes and journals and be reminded of the revelations and lessons.  Continue on, steadfast and strong in what He has taught you this far.

Second, know that each and every moment offers a chance to gain new insight and walk in unfamiliar land.  Life is not stagnant.  It is an ever-moving, ever-changing existance.

Maybe you have regrets from this past year.  Did you stumble or fall?  Did you even sit down and stop?  Maybe you pushed aside something that God was wanting for you to learn.  It's not too late.  He's waiting patiently, full of love and plans that you can not even begin to imagine.

Grab onto Jeremiah 33:3 and don't let go:

"Call to Me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things, fenced in and hidden, which you do not know."

As we go into another year, another season, this is my prayer for all of us:  "I pray that your love for each other will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in your knowledge and understanding." (Phil. 1:9)

Happy New Year.
