Jeremiah 29:11
"For I know the plans that I have for you, says the Lord.  They are plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope."

There seems to be an element of risk to almost everything in this world.  When we tell someone a secret, we risk them passing it on.  When we step out on a new idea or venture, there is the risk of failure.  When we trust, there is the risk of disappointment and hurt.  When we own something, we risk loosing it.

There is always a chance for victory and a chance for defeat.

Everywhere people are desperately trying to hold onto their possessions, their rights, their control, their hearts - scared these things will be snatched away when least expected.  This danger is very real for those who have not put their trust in Jesus.  John 10:10 states, "The thief's purpose is to steal and kill and destroy."  Peter also exhorts us, "Be careful!  Watch out for attacks from the Devil, your great enemy.  He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for some victim to devour." (I Peter 5:8)

There is a place where risk does not exist, however.  A place where worry and fear are not an issue.  It is a place where each step taken is a sure-footed, secure decision.  It is in the Kingdom of God - in the presence of the one true God.

You can't loose with God.  You just can't.
When you give away - even your greatest treasure - you are guaranteed to receive more in return.  "If you give, you will receive.  Your gift will return to you in full measure, pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, and running over." (Luke 6:38)

When you step out in obedient faith, even when the road looks like it drops off a cliff, His Word will uphold you.  "For with God nothing is ever impossible and no word from God shall be without power or impossible of fulfillment." (Luke 1:37)

When it seems that the enemy is gaining ground, the future is sure.  When the dust clears, we will be able to say with Paul, "The Lord stood with me and gave me strength ... and He saved me from certain death.  Yes, and the Lord will deliver me from every evil attack and will bring me safely to His heavenly Kingdom.  To God be the glory forever and ever." (II Tim.4:17-18)

There is absolutely no risk in Jesus.  None.  His plans for us come from a depth of love, wisdom, and power beyond understanding.  What we see with our eyes may appear risky, even hopeless.  But His Word declares, "My purpose is to give life in all its fullness." (John 10:10b)

How many are the chances we take everyday?  And yet there is one chance you can take with a guaranteed ending.  Jesus.  He came to destroy the works of the enemy, to put us in a safe, secure place, and to lead us by His own hand.  Let the Creator take control, and experience what you were created for!

"Your mercy and loving-kindness, O Lord, extend to the skies, and Your faithfulness to the clouds.  Your righteousness is like the mountains of God, Your judgments are like the great deep.  O Lord, You preserve man and beast.  How precious is Your steadfast love, O God!  The children of men take refuge and put their trust under the shadow of Your wings.  They relish and feast on the abundance of Your house; and You cause them to drink of the stream of Your pleasures.

"For with You is the fountain of life; in Your light do we see light."
(Psalm 36:5-9)
